Design Thinking: Empathy
As an intern with the City of Raleigh, I had the privilege of attending CORStat on my first day—an event that brought together city employees to showcase strategic plan initiatives and engage in collaborative workshops aimed at enhancing the city's overall performance.
During this conference, one of the workshops focused on how to use inclusion principles to build stronger trust between the City and the public. This artifact is a how might we worksheet in which employees engaged in an examination of their knowledge of inclusion within the city, challenged their assumptions, and identified the diverse array of stakeholders in the city. This worksheet (one of many) is a representation of the city's commitment to empathy. It signifies a deliberate effort to understand and incorporate diverse perspectives, reflecting a proactive approach to inclusivity. By prioritizing inclusion principles as a means to build trust, the city demonstrated a recognition of the importance of empathy.
